Biome
A quiet descent.
Drift gently through a living column of water. Guide a softly glowing creature as it sinks deeper, lighting the dark in quiet pulses. It’s easy to fall into, easy to leave, and perfect for a few calm minutes whenever you need them.
What you're doing down there
The water is alive
Light drifts past you. The current leans on you, then lets go. Everything down here breathes at its own pace, and none of it is in a hurry. Nothing flashes. Nothing sounds an alarm. The deeper you go, the deeper and stranger the dark becomes.
Feed, and grow long
Every light you collect makes you longer and a little brighter, and the note you hear climbs with you. Avoid your own tail, or the run ends. It’s a slow, satisfying kind of trouble.
Little is lost for good
Some things down here will take a piece of you. What they take keeps glowing and drifting for a few seconds, and it’s yours again if you turn around and go after it. You can be careless and still be swimming a minute later.
Sink, or drift
Go as deep as the dark will let you, or spend two quiet minutes seeing how bright you can get. Either way, you can put the phone down whenever you like. Nothing nags you when you come back.
Not everything down here is food
A Mimic wears a Lumen Cell’s colours and waits. The tell is the pulse. A real Lumen flashes three times and then rests, and its centre is bright; a Mimic keeps flashing, fast and even, and its centre is dark. It will catch you once. After that you spot it from a long way off.
One hand, and you can keep it off the water
Drag anywhere and the creature swims toward your finger. If you would rather not cover the thing you are watching, there is a Trackpad control scheme in Settings. Reduce motion and higher-contrast hazards are in there too.
